Technique, readiness, care
Pointe
Pointe at Reverence is an invitational class for dancers with the technical foundation and physical readiness to work en pointe. Pointe 1 and Pointe 2 build on at least three years of ballet, with careful attention to feet, ankles, and alignment.

What pointe builds
The pinnacle of classical ballet
Pointe represents decades of ballet training condensed into one specialized skill. It is artistically rewarding and personally meaningful.
Strength and precision
Pointe work develops ankle and intrinsic foot strength that no other dance training can replicate.
Careful progression
Our pointe curriculum is deliberately slow. We build strength before complexity, always. The result is dancers who are on pointe safely for years to come.
Individual attention
Pointe classes are smaller than our other classes. Every dancer gets individual corrections, every class.

Readiness assessment
Ages 11+ with 3+ years of ballet
Dancers are evaluated for pointe readiness during intermediate and advanced ballet classes. The evaluation covers foot strength, ankle stability, turnout, core strength, and emotional readiness. Pointe is never rushed.
- 2
Pointe 1
By invitation
Introduction to pointe — pointe shoe fitting, beginning barre work on pointe, and careful progression from two-footed to one-footed work.
- 3
Pointe 2
By invitation
Extended barre and center work on pointe, basic pointe technique, and introduction to performance-quality work.
What to expect
Every pointe class begins with a flat-shoe ballet warm-up that prepares the ankles and feet — plies, tendus, ankle articulation drills. Dancers then put on pointe shoes and repeat the key barre work en pointe. We spend significant time on basic pointe technique — rises, échappés, piqués — before moving to more complex work. Every correction happens with an eye toward long-term foot health.
Dress code
Pink or skin-tone tights, black leotard, pointe shoes once cleared by the instructor. Hair in a secure bun. Toe pads and spacers as fitted. Full dress code details are shared at enrollment.
Why we hold pointe to a high standard
A pointe shoe concentrates a dancer's body weight onto a few square inches of support. Done too early, without proper strength, it causes real physical harm — sometimes permanent.
At Reverence, pointe work is always invitational. Readiness is our call, made with the dancer and the parent together. We evaluate foot strength, ankle stability, turnout, alignment, and technical foundation. A student might take three years of advanced ballet before their teacher says "you're ready." That's not a failure — that's caring for their feet for the decades they have left to dance.
When a dancer is ready and is invited to pointe, we celebrate. And then the real work begins.
